My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

When will we meet in person again?

If you have seen the news, you have probably seen announcements over the slow reopening of Texas. You may be excited about the chance of getting out, visiting family and friends, and attending church in person again.

You may be skeptical or nervous about meeting in person again, wondering if it is safe to do so.

Currently, there are multiple guidelines, charts, checklists, and things to consider for our church to gather in person safely. The elders and I will be meeting this month (In the fellowship hall, and separated from each other!) to develop a plan and procedures for us to meet in person again.  The latest copy of guidelines I have received from the State of Texas states: “Houses of Worship should conduct as many activities as possible remotely, and should follow federal guidelines when providing services in person. Services that houses of worship cannot conduct remotely should be conducted in accordance with guidance from the White House and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”)”

Very simply, we will not rush into gathering in person, but we will lay the groundwork for everyone’s safety for when we do.  I ask for your patience, your prayers, and your support as we navigate our way through new procedures and circumstances. We will communicate with you the timelines as we develop them.

Drive Through Communion Available

In the meantime, I would like to offer ‘Drive Through Communion’ again.

 Communion will be available this

  • SUNDAY, May 3rd, and
  • MONDAY, May 4th.

I ask that you again sign up using the form found HERE

The link will take you to a site that shows all the available times. Click the ‘Sign up’ to the right of your preferred time slot, then ‘Submit and Sign up’ at the bottom of the page.  Fill out your name, the number of people taking communion, and a phone number in case Pastor needs to reach you – then ‘Sign Up Now’ at the bottom of the page. That’s it!

We will use a short order of service. You can download and print your own copy HERE. If needed, a copy will be provided for you when you arrive.

A few things to remember:

  • Make sure you sign up using the button below!
  • Please drive in from the back of the entrance, so the driver’s side is closest to the church doors.
  • Please stay in the car. Pastor Lutjens will bring everything to you.
  • Do roll down your window so we can hear each other!

If you have specific concerns, or would like individual confession and absolution, please contact me directly on my cell phone: 979-488-4560

In the Meantime

I ask that you join with me in prayer.

Lord God, we humbly confess to You that we deserve Your fatherly chastisement for our sins; yet we earnestly implore You, for Your name’s sake, to spare us in this time of disaster. Restrain all harmful powers and help Your suffering people that You Word may be declared faithfully and without hindrance and that we, amending our sinful lives, may walk in safety and peace according to Your holy commandments.  Grant Your grace to all who are in financial distress or who are anxious about this life. Open Your hand and satisfy their needs. Do not let them fall into despair, resentment, or the mire of self-pity. Renew in them hope and faith. Give them the assurance of Your presence and the courage to face the trials of the days to come; through Jesus Christ your son, our Lord, Amen.

I remain your servant in Christ,

Pastor R.W. Lutjens
